Longdong Bay Cape to Bitou Cape, Taipei, Taiwan

4th of December 2015

Jumping fences, freak waves, rock hopping and edging to cliffs. A spectacular afternoon walk with amazing coastal views.

  • Location: Gongliao District and Ruifang District, Taiwan
  • Start or End: I started at the bus stop on Hemei Street near the Longdong South Ocean Park. I finished at the bus stop on Bitou Road near the Pi-t'ou fishing harbour.
  • Length: 6.4km (4.0mi)
  • Grade: Easy to Medium. Most the walk is not really that tough. It does get a little hilly in sections but it is fully paved and serviced by staircases. A word of warning though, you will probably need to jump fences to complete this route, specifically the rock shelf area north of the Longdong Bay Park Visitors Centre (near the road tunnel). The fences are easily climbable but are in place as people have died due to freak waves. Walk at your own risk (the numerous fishermen didn't seem to bothered though).
