Caoling Historic Trail, Taipei, Taiwan

4th of December 2015

To Boldly Quell the Wild Mists of the Coaling Historic Trail.

  • Location: Gongliao District and Toucheng Township, Taiwan
  • Start or End: I started at the Dali Train Station (the most obvious point at the southern end of the trail) and ended at the Earth God Shrine at the intersection of Yuanwangkeng St and the highway where there is a bus stop. This is just one option to access the northern terminus of the trail. You can also walk from Fulong Train Station via the Huzishan Bikeway or the main roads.
  • Length: 9.1km (5.7mi)
  • Grade: Medium to Hard. Paved and road surfaces throughout. Large ascent and descent. Glad I did this in winter, would be very tough in summer. The southernmost ascent/descent is rather exposed (it was very windy the day I was up there).
