A Walk Around Bitan

Taipei, Taiwan

The Map

The Facts

  • Start or End: I started and finished at the Xindian train station (Google Map Directions).
  • Length: 2.8km (1.7mi) in about 1.5hr
  • Grade: Easy to medium. The eastern side of this walk from the Bitan Suspension Bridge to the Bitan Ferry terminal is easy and flat with only a few stairs. The remainder of the walk (the Blue Coast Trail) to the west, near Mount Hemei, is very hilly with many stairs. The path is well maintained throughout. To complete the loop you will need to catch the Bitan Ferry/Gondola across the Xindian River. The Ferry cost $20TW but I am not sure of the timetable (I just waited and someone finally came).
  • Date Walked: 2nd of December 2019

The Story

A walk around Bitan with suspension bridge views, sweat-inducing staircases, panoramic views, Xindian River, and a leisurely gondola ride.
