Hiking Mount Jinba and Mount Takao, Tokyo, Japan
9th of November 2017
Lush forests, a flathead screwdriver headed horse, a snow-capped Mount Fuji, autumn colour and the crowds at one of Japan's most visited mountains.
- Location: Mount Jinba and Mount Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan.
- Start or End: I started at the bus stop at Jinba Kogen-shita (accessed via bus 32 from Takao train station) and finished at Takaosanguchi train station.
- Length: 16.8km (10.4mi)
- Grade: Moderate, the paths are well maintained and signage clear. There is a 500m elevation gain to Mount Jinba, but it isn't that bad. From Mount Jinba to Mount Takao the path undulates up and down but is a fairly flat and relaxing walk. From Mount Takao, it is all downhill. The hike took 6.5 hours to complete.
