A Wet Walk Along Yamanobe-no-Michi, Nara, Japan

20th of November 2017

Despite the drizzle, the walk along a section of Japan's oldest road, the Shinkaido, was enjoyable and filled with rural views, temples, ancient tombs and fruit stands.

  • Location: Tenri and Sakurai, Nara, Japan.
  • Start or End: I started and Tenri Train Station and finished at Sakurai Train Station (Kintetsu Osaka Line).
  • Length: 18.0km (11.2mi)
  • Grade: Easy to Medium. Rather flat and paved a lot of the way (there were some muddy sections due to the rain). I increased the grade to medium due to the length of the walk.
