A Morning Walk Around Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan

Towering bamboo groves and the most spectacular autumn foliage I have ever seen. A story of waking up early to miss the crowds and enjoying one of Kyoto’s most photogenic areas.

  • Location: Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan
  • Start or End: Loop walk. Start and end at the Saga-Arashiyama Train Station.
  • Length: 6.5km (4.0mi)
  • Grade: Easy. Mostly flat and either paved or easy gravel paths. A few small hills in Arashiyama Park.
