A Hike from Little Rush Lake to Thomsons Lake in Beeliar Regional Park

Perth, Australia

The Map

The Facts

  • Start or End: I started at the bus stop near the corner of North Lake Road and Omeo Road, South Lake (Google Map Directions) and finished at the bus stop near the corner of Beeliar Road and Hammond Road, Cockburn Central (Google Map Directions). Both bus stops are accessible via Cockburn Central Railway Station.
  • Length: 16.0km (9.9mi) in about 4.5hr
  • Grade: Medium. Flat with paths ranging from asphalt, gravel to extremely sandy. I did need to jump a small fence near the end of my walk (near Branch Circus, Success) so I could access the road and find a bus stop. Also, paths close to Thomsons Lake can flood. As you can see from the map I had to back track on the eastern side of the lake and take a path to higher ground.
  • Date Walked: 2nd of August 2015

The Story

Sandy trails, fenced in nature, morning reflections, colourful birds and birds of prey. A brilliant morning walk in suburban nature.
