The Facts

  • Start or End: I started and finished at the bus stops on the corner of Park Avenue and Caves Beach Road, Caves Beach (Google Map Directions). Unfortunately, public transport at Murrays beach is non-existent, so you do need to retrace your steps (it's a good walk, so I didn't mind). It is possible to reduce the length by taking bus 99 from the bus stops on the Pacific Highway, which are located just to the south of the pedestrian bridge (Google Map Directions).
  • Length: 19.8km (12.3mi) in about 6hr
  • Grade: Medium. The terrain is not that difficult but pushed it beyond an easy grade due to length and possible hazards (be careful around the rocks and use some common sense if seas are rough).
  • Date Walked: 29th of July 2019

The Story

Hiking from the jagged edges and crashing waves of Caves and Pinny Beach, across the bushland of Wallarah National Park to the tranquil Lake Macquarie waters of Murrays Beach.
